How much does it cost to clear a blocked drain on the Gold Coast?

The cost depends on where the blockage is, what is causing it and how it has to be accessed, so we do not publish a fixed price. What we can say up front is that there is no call-out fee and you get a price before the work starts. Call 0412 661 632 and describe the problem for a realistic idea.

Are you open on weekends?

Yes. Fair Dinkum Drainage is open seven days across the Gold Coast, including weekends, with no call-out fee. Blocked drains do not keep business hours, and urgent jobs such as sewage backing up inside a property are prioritised. Call 0412 661 632 and we will tell you when we can get there.

What causes blocked drains?

The most common causes are tree roots entering older clay and earthenware pipes through weeping joints, fat and grease setting hard inside kitchen lines, and wet wipes and sanitary products that do not break down. Collapsed or misaligned pipework, and silt and leaf litter in stormwater lines, account for most of the rest.

Why is my toilet or shower gurgling?

Gurgling means air is being forced past a partial blockage and escaping through the nearest water trap. If it happens in one fixture when another one drains, the blockage is usually in the shared line rather than the fixture itself. It is an early warning worth acting on before the drain blocks completely.

Are chemical drain cleaners safe to use?

We would avoid them. On a properly blocked line they rarely clear the blockage, they can damage older pipework with repeated use, and they leave a caustic solution sitting in a drain that someone then has to work on. High-pressure jetting removes the blockage from the pipe wall instead.
